Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 24, 2026

Civil Security AI LLC ("CSAI," "we," "us") provides the Civil Security AI mobile app and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information — name, email address, and phone number you provide when you create an account.
  • Trusted contacts — the names and phone numbers you add to receive SMS safety alerts on your behalf.
  • Location data — used to detect the jurisdiction you are in so that guidance reflects the applicable state law, and to power in-app navigation.
  • Encounter recordings — audio and video you capture during an encounter. Recordings are stored on your device and in your account, and remain under your control.
  • Chat inputs — the questions and prompts you submit to the CSAI AI assistant.
  • Usage and device diagnostics — non-identifying information about how the app performs (crashes, latency, feature usage) used to improve reliability.

2. How we use information

  • Provide jurisdiction-specific legal guidance during an encounter.
  • Send SMS safety alerts to the trusted contacts you have chosen.
  • Maintain your account and give you access to your encounter recordings.
  • Improve the reliability, safety, and accuracy of the app.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. SMS safety alerts

The CSAI SMS safety alert program is strictly opt-in and consent-based. Messages are sent only when you start an encounter recording and only to the trusted contacts you have added. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our SMS Terms & Conditions for full details.

4. How we share information

We share information only with service providers who help us run the app (for example, hosting providers and SMS delivery carriers) under written confidentiality obligations, or as required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the safety of any person.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won't be shared with any third parties. The mobile phone number and consent a trusted contact provides to opt in to SMS safety alerts are used only to send those alerts and are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties, affiliates, or advertisers for their own purposes.

5. Data security and retention

We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. You control your encounter recordings and can delete them at any time from the app. We retain other personal information only as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal or accounting requirements.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your account information from inside the app.
  • Manage location, microphone, camera, and notification permissions in your device settings.
  • Opt out of SMS safety alerts at any time by replying STOP to any CSAI text message or by disabling alerts in the app.
  • Request full deletion of your data by emailing privacy@civilsecurity.ai.

7. YouTube content

The Creators feed uses YouTube API Services to show a curated selection of publicly available civil-rights and legal-education videos. We request only public video information — titles, thumbnails, channel names, view counts, and durations. When you search within the Creators feed, your search terms are sent to YouTube through our servers to return matching videos. We do not send your account details, location, encounter recordings, or AI assistant chats to YouTube, and we do not access your YouTube account or watch history.

Video playback takes place inside YouTube's embedded player. When you play a video, YouTube may collect information about that playback under its own policies. By using the Creators feed you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and any information collected by YouTube and Google is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

8. Children's privacy

CSAI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app and reflected by an updated effective date above.
