The Civil Security AI SMS safety alert program is a transactional messaging program operated by Civil Security AI LLC. When an enrolled user starts an encounter recording in the CSAI app, the program sends a short SMS notification to the trusted contacts that user has designated, letting those contacts know an encounter has begun. This is not a marketing program and we do not send promotional messages through it.
Enrollment requires action from both people. Inside the CSAI app, a user adds a trusted contact and sends that contact an invitation from the user's own phone, using the user's normal messaging app — Civil Security AI does not send the invitation. The invitation contains a secure link to a Civil Security AI web page. On that page, the trusted contact enters their own mobile number and checks an unchecked consent box to opt in. Civil Security AI sends nothing to the contact until they complete that form; the confirmation text is the first and only message we send, and only after they have opted in. A contact can reply STOP at any time to be permanently opted out, or HELP for help. The app user cannot bypass this: consent is captured directly from the trusted contact on our web form, not asserted by the person who added them.
See an example of the opt-in screen a trusted contact sees.
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on the user's activity. Alerts are sent only during active safety events — that is, at the moment a user starts an encounter recording — and not on any fixed schedule.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier. The SMS safety alert feature itself is free to use during the beta. Standard carrier fees may still apply to messages you send or receive.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from the program. A confirmation message will be sent to acknowledge your opt-out, after which you will receive no further messages from the program. Users can also disable SMS alerts, or remove specific contacts, at any time from inside the CSAI app.
For help, reply HELP to any message or email support@civilsecurity.ai.
The program is supported on major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and their affiliates and MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and message delivery is not guaranteed.
Phone numbers submitted to the SMS safety alert program are used solely to deliver safety alerts on behalf of the enrolling user. We do not sell phone numbers or share them with third parties for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
