Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Civil Security AI mobile app and related services provided by Civil Security AI LLC ("CSAI," "we," "us"). By using the app you agree to these Terms.

1. Not legal advice

CSAI provides legal information and educational guidance about civil rights and law enforcement encounters. CSAI does not provide legal advice and using the app does not create an attorney-client relationship. Attorney listings shown in the app are provided for convenience and are not endorsements or referrals.

2. Beta software

The app is currently distributed as a pre-release beta build. Features, pricing, and availability may change, and the app may contain bugs. You accept the app "as is" during the beta period.

3. Eligibility and account

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Acceptable use

• Record encounters only where you are legally permitted to do so.
• Do not use the app to interfere with, obstruct, or escalate a law enforcement encounter.
• Do not add another person as a trusted contact without their consent to receive SMS safety alerts.
• Do not misuse, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, and do not use it for any unlawful purpose.

5. SMS safety alerts

The SMS safety alert feature is strictly opt-in and governed by our SMS Terms & Conditions.

6. Intellectual property

The app, including its software, models, content, trademarks, and design, is owned by Civil Security AI LLC and protected by law. CSAI's core technology is the subject of USPTO Non-Provisional and PCT International patent applications filed in 2025 (patent-pending). You retain ownership of your own encounter recordings.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of guidance, the delivery of SMS messages, or the uninterrupted availability of the service.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CSAI and its affiliates, officers, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the app.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms or modify, suspend, or discontinue the app at any time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
